Introduction
At AMM, our mission is rooted in using technology to solve real-world challenges. When the Environmental and Sustainability Department approached us to combat Panama Disease (Commonly devastating to plant life, especially in banana plantations) on the project with use of washdown bays and a prevention strategy——we saw an opportunity to merge innovation with care for the environment.
The Challenge:
Panama Disease posed a significant threat to the plantations in Coffs Harbour (If you haven't been to Coffs, we highly recommend you visit!), and the department needed a solution to track and prevent its spread. Seeking an economical yet robust system, they looked to us for a creative answer.
Our Approach:
Harnessing our expertise and Microsoft's versatile tools, we devised a solution that went beyond conventional IT. Using Microsoft Forms and Power Automate, we created a tailored yet cost-effective system to safeguard data but keeping the process simple and effective for the workers.
Solution Implementation:
Crafting a user-friendly form via Microsoft Forms, we streamlined data collection. However, our innovation went further. We designed a QR code, magnified for easy scanning from vehicle windows, strategically placed near washdown bays to track entries and exits, preventing potential disease spread.
Beyond tech, this was about preserving plant life and nurturing a healthier environment on the beautiful Coffs Coast.
Outcome & Impact:
Through Power Automate, submissions seamlessly populated an Excel sheet, empowering the Environmental Department to track bay usage. This not only kept the project compliant but helped track vehicles going in and out of site, enabling informed decisions crucial for preventing Panama Disease outbreaks.
Conclusion:
Our solution wasn't just about IT—it was about protecting our precious plant life and this beautiful place we call home. It embodies our commitment to innovative, eco-conscious solutions that merge technology with environmental care.
This case exemplifies our approach: human-centric technology that safeguards not just data, but our environment and the life it sustains.
